The largest travelling fair in Europe lights up the city of Hull

Stunning pictures show Europe’s largest travelling fair in full swing.

Hull Fair, in East Yorkshire, is home to 300 attractions including rollercoasters, fun houses, helter skelters, and a Ferris wheel.

It is now in its 791st year having been run since 1293 when King Edward I acquired Hull.

The fair first started as a large market selling cloth and other goods before becoming more entertainment focused.

This year the carnival – which takes over 16 acres of Walton Street car park next to West Park – was opened on October 10 by the Lord Mayor of Kingston Upon Hull by the ringing of a bell.

It runs until Saturday, October 18.
