‘All-new attractions’ Anakeesta announces $100 million expansion
GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WATE) — As Sevier County continues to generate billions in tourism spending, Anakeesta announced a $100 million expansion called “Making More Magic.”
A press release from the Gatlinburg theme park explained that this was part of a five-year plan with the first phase launching in 2026. For this phase, the business plans to build a “next-generation” lift, expand the Treetop Skywalk and completely renovate the Firefly Village. It also plans to add a nighttime Firefly Experience.
“Guests can look forward to all-new attractions, immersive experiences, and enhanced spaces that celebrate the beauty, spirit, and creativity of the Smokies,” an Anakeesta spokesman said.
Governor Lee recently said that tourism is “the number two driver of Tennessee’s economy.” In 2024, visitors to Sevier County spent nearly $4 billion, according to Tourism Economics and the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development. Other Sevier County attractions are expanding as well, including Dollywood.
Anakeesta is currently holding Local Appreciation Days through November 10 to raise money for Second Harvest Food Bank. Learn more about the expansion on its website.
