2026 Waterfront Blues Fest returns to 3-day event

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — It may still be November, but anticipation is already building for one of Portland’s most beloved summer traditions: the Waterfront Blues Festival. The 2026 festival will span three days and include the signature marrying of world-class blues, local food, and a stunning fireworks show.

Now approaching its 39th year, the festival remains a cultural cornerstone in a city that has transformed greatly in recently years. Through it all, Portland’s passion for live music — especially the blues — has endured.

“Behind the scenes we’re putting out offers, contracting, doing all the spreadsheets of who goes where and when they’ll play,” said festival director Christina Fuller, describing the months-long process of assembling the lineup.

Fuller said the event is more than a music festival. Across nearly four decades, the Waterfront Blues Festival has raised more than $10 million for local nonprofit partners, including Meals on Wheels People and the Jeremy Wilson Foundation.

“We all still get to have fun over the July 4th weekend, listen to good music, and do good for our neighbors,” she said.

The festival also provides a major platform for local artists, giving homegrown talent a chance to perform in front of thousands on Portland’s largest stages.

Fuller emphasized that none of it would be possible without support from sponsors across both the public and private sectors. Last year, Airbnb joined as a major partner — and they’ll be back again.

“We’ve got a way for folks to be involved, whether they’re looking to engage by buying tickets for their employees, showing up at the festival to vend, or becoming a corporate sponsor and putting their name on a stage,” Fuller said.

This year offers even more ways to participate, as organizers prepare for a special three-day run culminating on July 4th — which will also mark America’s 250th birthday. As always, the night will close with a stunning fireworks display over the Willamette River.

“Right when you look around and you see the whole city and the bridge full of people, and Waterfront Park is full, and you just feel the connection of what it means to have humans in the same space — that’s really fun. It feels really good,” Fuller said.
