This Alabama route is considered by WorldAtlas as the most scenic drive in the South

Think Talladega is all about NASCAR and fast laps? This Talladega is not. Alabama's Talladega Scenic Drive offers a 26-mile route that twists, turns and climbs through Talladega National Forest, all the way up to Cheaha Mountain, the state's highest peak.

Named one of the seven most scenic drives in the Southern United States by World Atlas, this stretch of State Route 281 delivers forested ridges, hidden hollows and seasonal bursts of wildflowers and fall foliage.

With fall in full swing, now is the perfect time to see the route at its most colorful. Here's why World Atlas picked Talladega's Scenic Drive for their list.
