A young woman remains in intensive care after what was supposed to be a safe cosmetic procedure turned her family holiday into a nightmare.
West Australian mother of three Chloe Mowday, 31, had been holidaying in Vietnam with her husband Josh and their five-year-old son after travelling to Bali, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
Plans to continue their adventure across Southeast Asia ended a fortnight ago after she underwent rhinoplasty and blepharoplasty procedures on her nose and eyelids.
She spent the night at the unnamed clinic in the beachside city of Da Nang and was discharged the next morning.
Ms Mowday returned to her hotel, where she was found unresponsive a few hours later when her organs began shutting down.
She was resuscitated en route to hospital, where she spent two weeks in a coma on life support.
Ms Mowday has regained consciousness in recent days but remains in ICU in a critical condition on dialysis and has a long road to recovery ahead of her.
Her brother Rod booked the first flight he could to Vietnam to be by her bedside.

'The doctors said she is very strong but when I asked if she is going to make it, they couldn't give me a straightforward answer,' he told news.com.au.
'What I saw was just heartbreaking. She was not awake, she had tubes coming out of her.
'She's on dialysis, had to have a blood transfusion and is on certain drugs to bring her blood pressure back to normal. It got so low her feet and fingers turned black.'
The family is now scrambling together the required funds to bring Ms Mowday back home.
'The doctors have informed us that she has a better chance of getting through this at home in Australia, so we are trying to get her home via air ambulance as soon as possible,' a fundraiser set up by her brother states.
'I have a quote for the air ambulance I have on standby is $125,000 paid up front before flying.
'I have been advised to up the goal on this funding while we are also trying for bank loans, super access, more hours at work, anything we can.'
The fundraiser has raised more than $15,000 within five days.

'She is such a beautiful girl and a loving soul with three young children and a loving husband who has been by her side since this happened with their five-year-old son there too,' the fundraiser added.
Ms Mowday is still undergoing tests to determine the exact cause of her illness.
It's understood a police investigation has also been launched.
Recent photos shared to social media show Ms Mowday visiting Disneyland in Hong Kong and enjoying the scenery from her accommodation in Vietnam and Bali.
The family had been planning to travel to China when the holiday was abruptly cut short.
Da Nang is known for its growing cosmetic surgery scene, where the cost for a rhinoplasty costs $AU2,076.
The same procedure costs $9,200 in Australia, according to the Medical Tourism Corporation website.
A blepharoplasty costs $2,025, less than a third of what patients would fork out in Australia.
