Non-profit art center opens in downtown Sevierville

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - East Tennesseans have a new place to share their craft skills, thanks to a new craft center in downtown Sevierville.

Dr. Nola K. Plumb with Creative Toolbox envisions a center for well-being with art and crafts as a place for people to come and explore what Sevierville has to offer. There, guests can learn more about crafting or try some crafts for themselves.

Local Bridges is a non-profit organization in Sevier County, TN dedicated to community education, resource connection, and transitional coaching.

From handmade soaps to candles and even products made from alpacas, Creative Toolbox features 25 locally-produced crafters’ products.

Sevierville visitors can also book sessions to paint crafts themselves. Creative Toolbox wants to be a place in the community for motivation.

It gives one more way for visitors to spend time in the growing downtown area.

“Tourists haven’t come down all the time. We have connected with the tourist tour busses, and now we have tour busses that are making this a stop on their tours, which is great, because that brings money in from the tourist to our local community,” said Plumb.

The groups has been giving free classes at the local library to the public on self-development, personal well-being, entrepreneurial, plus basic personal finance. They are proud and excited to announce the opening of a brick-and-mortar location called Local Bridges' Creative Toolbox.

The craft center is open Tuesday through Saturdays on Court Avenue in downtown Sevierville. The center has provided a list of some of the crafting it offers:

  • Art and craft classes/parties of various techniques and medias (i.e., Painting, Drawing, Collage, Sculpture, Resin, Wood, Silversmith, Candles, Book Upcycling, etc.);
  • DIY art projects for walk-ins to complete in the center for relaxation, fun, or take home;
  • An area to promote our local artists and craftsmen’s products and businesses;
  • Transitional personal and business development coaching, plus art-infused coaching via personal one-on-one and/or group sessions;
  • Continued community education classes in self-development, personal well-being, entrepreneurial, basic personal finance, plus computer training;
