(COLORADO SPRINGS) — HERizon Adventures is a women-owned guided hiking and outdoor adventure company based in Colorado Springs, offering hikes and snowshoe tours designed specifically for midlife women. Their mission is to help women spend more time outdoors, feel confident on the trails, and build lasting connections with other women.
FOX21’s Krista Witiak sat down with Co-Founders Julie Fischer and Jana Mayer to learn more about HERizon Adventures, how it started, and what people can expect when they join.
Their story began in 2021 with the Colorado Springs Hiking Gals Facebook group. “I was looking for some women to hike with around my age,” Mayer recalls. The response was overwhelming, and the group quickly grew. Fischer joined soon after, and together they began leading hikes two-three times a week. Today, the group has nearly 10,000 members and has organized over 1,000 hikes.
HERizon Adventures now offers guided hikes and snowshoe tours for women of all abilities. Popular offerings include Winter Hiking 101 and Snowshoes & Brews, which pair beginner-friendly snowshoe hikes with lunch at a local brewery.
HERizon Adventures is also planning to expand into multi-day trips, retreats, and other outdoor experiences like backpacking, yoga, and hot springs adventures.
