Restaurants, coffee shops and a brewery opening in the north suburbs in 2026

In 2025, we said goodbye to many beloved restaurants. But don't get too depressed; there are many restaurants set to open in 2026 in Milwaukee's north suburbs.

Coffee shops, a Mexican ice cream shop and an Asian French bakery are a few of the eight places to look forward to. When are they opening? We asked, and this is what we found.

Here's what to know:

Scooter's Coffee in Sussex

Omaha, Nebraska-based Scooter's Coffee, a drive-through and walk-up coffee franchise, is slated to open in April, co-owners Crystal told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel via email. It will be at the southwest corner of Business Drive and Highway 164 in Sussex, at N54 W25047 Business Drive.

Food items at Scooter's Coffee include the southwest steak omelet bits, a sugar cookie sandwich, bacon sliders and mini chocolate chip cookies, according to its website.

This coffee eatery is a franchise with locations in the greater Milwaukee and in the United States. For more information, visit scooterscoffee.com.

A second Culver's in West Bend

West Bend will be getting a second Culver's this year. This new Culver's will be on two lots — 1437 and 1505 S. Main Street. The plans call for the two existing buildings at those lots to be razed, according to city documents.

Visionworks (1437 S. Main St.) is currently on one of the lots while and Omicron Restaurant (1505 S. Main St.) closed in December, Jacob Moeller, communications coordinator for the City of West Bend confirmed to the Journal Sentinel in an email on Jan. 29. Attempts to reach Visionworks about its plans were unsuccessful.

Culver's menu items include chicken tenders, fish, salads, soups, onion rings, French fries, butterburgers, chicken sandwiches and cheese curds. There are dessert items such as frozen custard, shakes, malts and other seasonal items.

Moeller said a building permit has not been issued as there are more steps in the process that Culver's needs to complete.

Culver's in Germantown

Dan and Alicia Braatz, who own the Menomonee Falls Culver's at W186 N9581 Bancroft Drive, are planning on building a 4,403-square-foot restaurant in Germanton, according to village documents. It will be at N112 W17300 Mequon Road in the Village Center with two drive through lanes. Dan Braatz said at Dec. 8 plan commission meeting that this new Culver's will be almost twice as large as the Menomonee Falls one. While the plans were unanimously approved at the Dec. 8 plan commission meeting, Village Administrator Steve Kreklow said Culver’s is still working through some final design loose ends but is anticipating construction starting this spring.

A representative from guest relations at Culver's told the Journal Sentinel in fall 2025 that once a Culver's breaks ground, it takes about six to eight weeks for completion.
