MJ's Restaurant, Bar & Grill closes in Tinton Falls

MJ's Restaurant, Bar & Grill in Tinton Falls, the first location of a locally owned chain that now includes more than half a dozen restaurants across the state, has closed.

The final day for the Sycamore Avenue restaurant was Saturday, Feb. 28. A spokesperson for MJ's confirmed the closure but declined to comment further. The closing was announced on social media.

"It with great sadness to have (to) write this post and to put into words how to truly express all these emotions right now," reads a Feb. 23 Facebook post from the restaurant. "Unfortunately, we will (be) closing our doors at MJ's Restaurant Bar & Grill in Tinton Falls... "

The restaurant opened in June 2011 in the building that previously housed the Grist Mill and Dam Site restaurants. It sits along Pine Brook and was known for its views of a small waterfall.

The MJ's restaurant chain is owned by Angelo DiCapua and Robert Webster of Monmouth County, with operations director Christina DiLuccio. There are currently seven locations in New Jersey, the most recent of which opened in 2023 in the former PJ Sweeney's Restaurant & Irish Pub in Brick. A Long Branch location opened in 2021 in the former Sitting Duck restaurant. Other MJ's restaurants are located in the Bayville section of Berkeley Township, Matawan, Middletown, Neptune and Spotswood.

MJ’s on Sycamore Ave in Tinton Falls has abruptly closed. They announced that February 28th would be there last day. No further information is available at this time. Monday, March 2, 2026
