After crushing winter, Popcorn Park Animal Refuge now open daily
Here comes the sun!
After a winter that caused extensive closings, including severe damage to habitats, fencing and infrastruture from snow, ice and wind during a major winter storm, Popcorn Park Animal Refuge has re-opened its doors seven days a week.

Forrest was one of 21 rhesus macaques intended for biomedical research. Now he is calling Popcorn Park Animal Refuge in Lacey his home.
The refuge is home to more than 200 rescued animals.
"With warmer spring days on the way, there’s no better time to plan a visit, enjoy the sunshine, and say hello to our rescued animals," the Forked River animal refuge said on social media.
The park's most recent closure was on Tuesday, March 10, as crews completed a final round of tree cleanup.
Popcorn Park now is open daily − weather permitting − from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from now through Dec. 1, when it opens the same hours from Fridays to Tuesdays.
Admission is $12 for adults, $7 for children 3 to 11 and seniors 62 and up, and free for children under 3, with a military discount available and free admission for Wildlife Club and Zoological Society members.
Popcorn Park food drive
March also marks the refuge's annual food drive.
"From fresh fruits for monkeys to hay for horses and bites for our bears, the rescued animals at Popcorn Park have big appetites! Help us keep their meals nutritious and plentiful by donating toward hay, grain, meat, produce and more. Every gift ensures they get the food they need all year long," Popcorn Park says.Contributions to the food drive earn donors a chance to win a behind-the-scenes tour of Popcorn Park.
