2026 'Doggy Dash' attracts dogs and llamas alike

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) —  The 2026 “Doggie Dash” attracted hundreds to downtown Portland on Saturday morning, including an annual Llama appearance.

The annual event supports the Oregon Humane Society and includes a walk or run through Tom McCall Waterfront. After participants complete the dash, they are invited to stick around for the festival.

The event was packed with various contests and vendors. One guest in particular drew quite the crowd, and his name is Caesar the “no drama llama”.

Caesar is a therapy llama that travels all over Oregon and southwest Washington. Larry McCool, who works closely with Caesar, said that Caesar is not just a frequent humane society event guest but has also made an appearance on the Kelly Clarkson Show, the Today Show, and People magazine. The llama is incredibly social and enjoys hugs by guests.

And there was a surprise for the event. An unconfirmed donor donated large quantities of kong dog toys that were handed out to participants.
