Rolls-Royce Spectre Series II debuts – EV gets battery upgrade, more power; up to 680 PS, 629 km WLTP
Rolls-Royce has updated the standard and Black Badge versions of the Spectre, with both providing more power and range in their Series II forms. For a brief recap, the Spectre was first introduced in October 2022, with the Black Badge model arriving later in February 2025.
Originally, the Spectre in Series I came equipped with a battery that had a net energy capacity of 102 kWh. For the Series II, new battery cell technology sees the capacity increase to 112.4 kWh, which sees range increase by up to 18%.
The WLTP-rated range figures are between 582 and 628 km for the standard Spectre, while the Black Badge offers between 578 and 629 km. For context, the Series I cars provided as much as 530 km of range.
According to Autocar, the Spectre’s new cells come courtesy of parent company BMW, which applied its Gen6 cylindrical cells to the facelifted i7 for a range boost. Another benefit is improved charging times, with Rolls-Royce claiming a 14% improvement for the Spectre which continues to use a 400-volt electrical architecture.
In addition to an upgraded battery, the dual-motor, all-wheel drive powertrains of the Spectre are now more powerful. The standard model serves up 601 PS (593 hp or 442 kW), up from 585 PS (577 hp or 430 kW) previously.
Meanwhile, the Black Badge edition is once again Rolls-Royce’s most powerful offering, delivering 680 PS (671 hp or 500 kW), an increase from 659 PS (650 hp or 485 kW). Similarly, peak torque is now 1,015 Nm (+115 Nm) for the Series II, with the Black Badge able to call up 1,100 Nm (previously 1,075 Nm) in its Spirited mode.
As for visual changes, there are none. As the company says in its release, “the super-coupé’s celebrated fastback profile, clean surfacing and split headlamp signature are retained for Spectre Series II, underlining the marque’s confidence in this initial, widely acclaimed design.”
However, buyers will have a wider catalogue of personalisation options to spend their money on. These include a new solid exterior finish called Ethereal Blue as well as a new 23-inch forged alloy wheel design. The Black Badge can now be optioned with a new Iced Black Exterior Detailing package that swaps out almost all of the brightwork with a matte finish. A “significantly expanded” range of interior trims have also been introduced.
