Tears at face of dog waiting 538 days in shelter after brother finds home
A shelter dog’s face has broken hearts across the internet after he spent over 538 days in the shelter as his brother found his forever home.
Julie Saraceno (@jsaraceno), 44, from Pasco, Washington, who works as a graphic designer and volunteers at dog shelters, shared a video of her petting Bark Wahlberg, a 6-year-old Siberian Husky who came into the shelter as a surrender in May 2024, alongside his brother, Ozzy. Both pups had spent their entire lives outside before entering the shelter. The video garnered 1,579 likes on Instagram.
“He loves pup cups, going for car rides, and getting butt scritches. He leans against the door of his kennel with his booty out and literally begs for you to scratch his back! It’s the cutest thing,” Saraceno told Newsweek.

It has proven difficult to find Bark a permanent home, since he belongs to a high-energy breed and must be “an only dog.” Saraceno explained that there is commonly an excess of huskies in shelters.
His Brother’s Success Story
His brother Ozzy was adopted after being in the shelter for over a year and a half. He has now found a forever family after a two week foster trial. He now belongs to a family made up of a little girl, mom and dad.
They also speak Spanish, so he will be sure to learn the language too and transform into a bilingual pup.

About The Breed
The Siberian Husky is known for its endurance and working‐dog background, originally bred in northeast Asia for sled pulling.
Though friendly, outgoing and often loved for their wolf-like looks, they have high physical and mental needs, according to American Kennel Club.

“It always shocks me seeing huskies in shelters since they’re such a sought after breed but then I remember people don’t do research before buying a dog. He looks so much like my sweet husky. If you get past the mischievousness and occasional screaming, they are lovely companions. I hope he finds a perfect home,” shared another user.
“He’s so handsome. I have two huskies. I love them so much. They are such good dogs. You just have to understand them,” added Jennifer.
