Tickets for Colorado Ice Castles go on sale Dec. 2
(COLORADO) — The icy wonderland of the Ice Castles returns to two locations in Colorado this winter, and tickets go on sale Dec. 2.
This year, Ice Castles is celebrating its 15th anniversary of bringing wonder and joy to visitors across the country. There will be two locations in Colorado to choose from, one in Silverthorne and one in Cripple Creek.
The Ice Castles offers a unique experience for guests of all ages, with ice slides, sculptures, tunnels, and an ice bar for the adults! Wonder at the incredible feat of engineering with a warm cup of cocoa or an icy beverage.
The Ice Castles typically begin construction after the fall, when temperatures allow the ice to freeze as ice artists construct the magnificent structure. Each castle is built by hand and takes thousands of man-hours to create. The daily process consists of growing 5,000-12,000 icicles that are harvested by hand and individually sculpted into existing ice formations. The blend of icicle placement, temperatures, water volume, and wind results in an ever-changing variety of ice formations.
No opening date has been announced yet, as they are weather-dependent, but you can sign up for the Ice Castles newsletter to stay up to date. Most locations open in early January and remain open until early March.
Tickets for both Silverthorne and Cripple Creek will go on sale on Dec. 2 on the Ice Castles’ website, linked above.
