Princess Anne’s youngest granddaughter wears family-favorite coat on Christmas
Princess Anne’s granddaughters are following in their grandmother’s footsteps with the art of rewearing clothes. On Christmas yesterday, 7-year-old Lena Tindall wore a coat previously worn by her older sister, Mia, and her older cousin, Savannah Phillips.
The military-style navy coat with red trim has clearly been passed down between cousins, though it has been styled differently over the years. When Savannah wore it to Christmas in 2017, the jacket was paired with white tights and black ballet flats; when Mia wore it to their great-grandfather Prince Philip’s Service of Thanksgiving in 2022, her parents dressed her with navy tights. Yesterday, on Christmas, Lena wore it with black tights and black boots—and white gloves to keep warm.

Lena wasn’t the only royal re-wear yesterday; her grandmother, Princess Anne, opted for a coat from the 90s, while her older cousin Lady Louise chose to borrow Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh’s hat and jacket. Kate Middleton, too, rewore a coat she had previously stepped out in this year.
On Christmas, Lena was spotted leaving church with her big sister, 11-year-old Mia Tindall, and her cousin, 10-year-old Princess Charlotte. She was also photographed joking around with her mom Zara Tindall, and her mom’s first cousin Princess Beatrice.

Despite Lena wearing her older cousin’s coat, Savannah Phillips and her younger sister Isla were not pictured among the royals on Christmas Day; their dad, Peter Phillips, recently got engaged to Harriet Sperling, so perhaps they spent Christmas with new family members, or with their mom, Autumn Kelly. (Phillips and Kelly married in 2008, but separated in 2020 and divorced in 2021.) No wedding plans for Sperling and Phillips have been revealed yet; in August, their spokesperson said no date had been officially set.
