What are the 'friendliest towns' in Wisconsin? Here's what World Atlas thinks.
Wisconsin is once again being recognized for its midwestern charm.
World Atlas recently published its list of the "9 Of The Friendliest Towns In Wisconsin." The Jan. 1 report said there's different ways to gauge how welcoming a spot is other than how locals interact with tourists.
"Infrastructure is a huge part, and so is the number of amenities that are easily accessible," the report said. "But perhaps the best way to really gauge whether a town is welcoming or not is how well it throws a party."
So, what does World Atlas dub some of the "friendliest towns" in the Badger State? Here's the list:
1. Lake Geneva

When you've allowed your kids to do everything they want at Timber Ridge Lodge, they'll be a lot more likely to let you do things like shop in downtown Lake Geneva.
2. Bayfield

The 58th annual Bayfield Apple Festival is a quintessential fall activity in Wisconsin.
3. Fish Creek

Old fashioned ads are played before the start of the movie at the Skyway Drive-in theater in Fish Creek, Door County on May 22, 2021. The family-owned theater offers a 1950s flair with classic speakers in the first four rows, as well as sound through your car’s FM radio. For an extra dose of nostalgia, cartoon advertisements created decades ago are still shown before the movie.
4. Cedarburg

Thousands of fest goers take in the sights and sounds of the 46th annual Wine & Harvest Festival in downtown Cedarburg on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018. The free two-day family-oriented arts and crafts event features homegrown produce, artisan foods, award-winning wines of Cedar Creek Winery, live music, children's activities and much more.
5. Wisconsin Dells
6. Hayward

A couple walks downtown Friday, February 2, 2024 in Hayward, Wisconsin. The American Birkebeiner, first held in 1973, has grown to be the largest nordic skiing race in North America, drawing more than 10,000 participants annually to ski the 55 kilometer classic skiing or the 50 kilometer skate skiing trails, that stretch from Cable to Hayward. The race has been canceled due to a lack of snow only twice, most recently in 2017. The foundation that runs the race has snowmaking equipment for a two kilometer loop at the trailhead near Cable.
7. Sister Bay

Goats are the star of the Roofing of the Goats Parade in Sister Bay in June.
8. Port Washington
9. Elkhart Lake

Visitors peruse a variety of offerings from regional and international artisans at the Old World Christmas Market at The Osthoff Resort in Elkhart Lake.
