Chloë Sevigny returns to the Miu Miu runway 30 years later

Chloë Sevigny embodies the Miu Miu girl: She’s clever, unafraid, and provocatively stylish. So it makes sense that today, the actress walked the runway at the brand’s Fall 2026 runway show. The actress and forever It girl wore a distressed leather jacket that faded into ochre fur at the bottom, worn open over a knit mini dress with a similar effect. Her look was accessorized with brown leather clogs and square-framed glasses, her hair pulled back with a throwback zig-zag headband.

And this isn't Sevigny's first outing for Miu Miu. The actress first walked in the brand's Spring 1996 show, cycling through the runway four separate times. For one of the looks, she wore a moto-style jacket, slim bermuda shorts, and heeled mules. In another, a bra top and a sheer knee-length skirt. She also starred in Miu Miu's ad campaign that same season, wearing quirky minimal separates rendered in plaid or neutral fabrics. Sevigny posed for a second Miu Miu campaign in 2012.

She wasn’t the only big name to grace the runway this season, either. Later in the procession came the iconic model of the early 2000s, Gemma Ward, who also made an appearance at Alaïa earlier this week. She wore a scalloped mini dress with a sheer, embellished overlayer, sneakers, oversized floral earrings, and that same headband. The casting aligned with the ‘90s and early ‘00s eras explored in the collection; Ward was closely followed by Kristen McMenamy, a top model in the grunge fashion moment of the 1990s. McMenamy wore a similar ensemble in a slightly different colorway with her gray hair flowing behind her.

Finally, to close the show, out came actress Gillian Anderson, who was popular in the ‘90s for her role in The X Files, and continues to be today. The actress wore another sheer sheath, this one knee-length, flecked with gold, and rounded out with chunky brown heels. Her blonde hair was slicked back and paired with barely-there makeup.

Miu Miu Spring 2026

Miu Miu is often considered Prada’s younger sister; Mrs. Prada designs for both and typically engages more with youthful tropes at the former. But Sevigny is just as pertinent in this cast at 51 as she was at 21—as are Anderson, McMenamy, and Ward, each in later stages of their career—thanks to the complex world the designer has built around the brand.

At Miu Miu specifically, Mrs. Prada loves unconventional casting, often mixing non-models in with the professionals. Past shows have featured Kyle MacLachlan, Ethel Cain, Sandra Hüller, Sara Paulson, and so many more. In a season of stunt casting for the sake of being provocative—Marilyn Manson and “longevity guru” Bryan Johnson made it into runways this week—the designer stands out as someone whose casting goes beyond the intention to grab headlines or go viral. Instead, Prada loves a character who brings their own lore to the conversation. And each of these Miu Miu girls, or, I should say, women, does just that.
