Abandoned 1970 Chevy barn find after almost 50 years and it’s a true time capsule
There are always a few hidden surprises when we buy a house. But rather than a few forgotten photographs or some dodgy plumbing, one man found a Chevy truck that hadn't moved in 45 years when he bought a property. While you may think this pickup is a lost cause, help is at hand. A detailing YouTube channel came to the rescue to restore it and get it running in just five days. The question is: did they manage to bring this forgotten truck back to life?
This Chevy Truck Hasn't Moved In Nearly 50 Years
WD Detailing is a popular YouTube channel that brings long-forgotten vehicles back from a sorry state. But even these clean-up wizards had a challenge on their hands with this Chevrolet truck found in Michigan. The truck was left in a garage on a property that was recently bought by new owner Jacob. Despite being in the lock-up for 45 years, the 1970 C20 isn't in too bad shape, but it's clear that it hasn't moved for a long time.
"It was an older gentleman's, who owned the property [and[ had passed away," explains Jacob. "It went into an estate collection. And as of right now, it went with the property that we bought because the taxes were unpaid and the seller from our property had acquired it. Never in a million years would I have thought this would be hiding in here."

The first job is to pull the three-quarter ton C20 out of the garage. Then it's time to unlock the wheels which have seized on most corners. Then WD Detailing turns to the engine, which is thankfully free from too much rodent snacking. The motor is also free, which is a good sign for starting in the future. But before that, WD Detailing does what it does best: a cleaning montage. The experts pressure wash the entire exterior, followed by a wash, clay bar and then polishing the paint to bring back its shine, including mold removal. The interior isn't in bad shape, but a mouse nest in the glove box is pretty rank. In the end, WD Detailing removes the entire inside of the glovebox which allows for disinfecting behind it.
The Interior Is Next On The To-Do List

Then the interior is cleaned. It is truly incredible what a pro vacuum, seat scrub, and power wash can do for an interior, but WD Detailing brings it back to excellent condition. And then, with the paint polished. The team clean all the windows and then add tire shine to the tires and protection on the paint with its Super Slick Ceramic Sealant. The big question now is, will it start?
It's Time To See If This Abandoned Truck Will Run

A new carburetor, along with a new distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, and wires, were then added. Then the resident mechanic, Adam, adds new fuel. The next problem is that the starter is no good, so that is switched. Lo and behold, the '70 Chevy starts up pretty easily. A new plug at the back of the carb' means that the Chevy is up and running and sounding sweet. And we mean sweet — this thing sounds brand new. Suffice to say, owner Jacob can't believe it's the same truck. "It's amazing," he says, gobsmacked. "You guys knocked this out of the park. Oh, thank you so much."
