Can't donate food to 'Stamp Out Hunger' in Oklahoma? Other ways to help

Editor’s note: The Oklahoman is partnering with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma to spread the word about this year’s Stamp Out Hunger food drive.

On Saturday May 9, letter carriers across the state will collect nonperishable food donations from homes and businesses along their route as part of the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.

Plastic donation bags will be left in your mailbox the week of May 4. Fill this bag, or any plastic bag, with nonperishable food and leave it by your mailbox on May 9 before your letter carrier arrives.

More than 150 food banks in Oklahoma are participating, including the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. All donations collected will stay in your community to help fight hunger.

Not everyone can or wants to donate food, though. Here's how you can give in other ways.

Donate money to the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

Every $1 donated to the food drive helps provide three meals to Oklahomans living with hunger.

If you can't donate food or money, RFBO is inviting individuals and groups to help sort donated food.

The food will be sorted at Oklahoma City metro post offices on Saturday, May 9.
