Kate Middleton’s best garden party fashion through the years

The Princess of Wales knows how to make a style statement at the event.

Kate Middleton regularly attends the annual garden parties hosted at Buckingham Palace each year, and she and Prince William have even stepped in to host over the events. Since marrying into the royal family in 2011, she has only missed three years; she skipped all of the garden parties in 2024 due to her ongoing cancer treatment, and also missed garden parties in 2018 and 2015 as she was on maternity leave following the births of Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte.

Kate’s fashion at garden parties is typically a monochrome dress with a matching hat; the outfit historically is a repeat from a previous event, though last week, she debuted a new outfit from Self-Portrait. Her hemlines have also gotten longer since she made her first garden party appearance in 2012 in an above-the-knee blush pink Emilia Wickstead dress. Now, she favors much longer skirts and dresses.
