This summer, beat the heat at one of the city's outdoor pools or spraygrounds.

Louisville Parks and Recreation operates four outdoor pools and 30 spraygrounds across the city, each opening Saturday, May 23, just in time for the Memorial Day weekend.

Here's what to know about Louisville's outdoor pools and spraygrounds:

Outdoor pools in Louisville, Ky.

Louisville Parks and Recreation outdoor pools are open May 23 through Aug. 1. Ages 12 and younger must be accompanied by a person age 13 or older. Cost: $3 for ages 13 and older; $2 for ages 12 and younger. There are no refunds.

Modern spraygrounds in Louisville, Ky.

Louisville Parks and Recreation operates numerous spraygrounds within the city, which open starting May 23 for 20 to 25 weeks from dawn to dusk daily. Features motion sensors or touch-activated buttons that allow children to trigger specific fountains, water cannons, squishy stomping pads or moving water features.

A newly reopened pool in Louisville's Camp Taylor neighborhood includes upgraded waterpark features. The pool is open for the Summer 2026 season.

  • Swimming is only allowed when a lifeguard is on duty.
  • No diving, shallow water can cause serious injury.
  • No running, roughhousing, or horseplay.
  • Coolers or glass containers are permitted.
  • Alcohol, tobacco, and vaping are not permitted.
  • Only services animal is permitted.
  • No littering.
  • Respect others, dangerous or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Appropriate swimwear is required. No shoes, socks, or non-swimming clothing allowed in the pool.
  • Keep food in designated areas. Eating or drinking in the pool is prohibited.
  • Shower before entering to maintain water cleanliness.
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult and actively monitored at all times.

Louisville Parks and Recreation pool clear bag policy

Louisville Parks and Recreation has implemented a clear bag policy at all outdoor pool and waterpark facilities. This policy is designed to enhance safety by allowing security staff to inspect bags quickly and efficiently upon entry. Each guest is permitted to bring one clear bag. Diaper bags and medical bags are allowed, but they must be inspected before entry.

Small clutch purses are allowed, but they cannot be larger than 6-and-1/2-inches-by-4-and-1/2-inches. Coolers are not allowed at any outdoor pool and waterpark facility. For questions, email [email protected].
