Couple recreate engagement photo after 30 years—not prepared for response

A couple who recreated their engagement photo nearly 30 years later weren’t prepared for the wave of reactions their side-by-side comparison would spark online.

Eric Woodhouse shared the images on Threads after revisiting the same spot in Idaho where he and his wife, Mindy, originally posed decades earlier. They even wore near identical outfits.

“In Idaho this weekend. Thought it would be fun to recreate our engagement photo. Almost 30 years to the day,” he wrote. “Sure, we look different—but still no one I’d rather be with than Mindy Woodhouse.”

The post, which has garnered more than 789,000 views, showed the couple standing in the exact same position, offering a striking before-and-after glimpse at their relationship over three decades.

While many praised the longevity of their marriage, others zeroed in on the details—particularly Mindy’s hairstyle and the couple’s effort to recreate the moment.

Several users couldn’t get past Mindy’s curly hair in the original photo.

“Hear me out…the curls looked AMAZING. You haven’t aged, keep the hair!” wrote Angela Follen.

“Girl, bring those curls back. Congratulations on 30 years!” added Kelley.

Others chimed in with a mix of nostalgia and personal experience.

“Sadly, some of us lost curls after pregnancy! I so wish I had the curls I had 25 years ago!” shared Christen.

Another user pushed back on the calls to “bring the curls back,” pointing out how hair can naturally change over time.

“Yall do realize that many peoples hair texture and density drastically changes after hormonal changes in different stages of life lol ‘bring the curls back’ maybe she can’t lol. Her hair does not look straightened with heat. Just looks like a different texture, naturally,” they wrote.

But the hair commentary wasn’t the only thing drawing attention.

“Why is no one commenting on the vest & shirt recreation?!?! We can all agree that those curls are perfection,” Lisa wrote, pointing to the couple’s effort to mirror their original outfits.

Others focused instead on the emotional shift between the two images.

A few even joked about how little had changed.

“I think you made a mistake and posted the same picture twice…” one user, Darryl, wrote.

Alongside the lighthearted debate over curls, clothing and aging, many commenters took a moment to celebrate the couple’s milestone.

“You both look great! Congrats on 30 years together,” another user wrote.

For Eric, the post was a simple tribute to his wife. But for viewers, it became a broader reflection on how relationships—and appearances—evolve over time, while the bond at the center remains unchanged.
