Shreveport native Christian Harrison seeks career resurgence with doubles success

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — After a strong showing on the red clay of Roland Garros in the French Open, Shreveport native Christian Harrison hopes his momentum continues at Wimbledon.

The French Open marked a turning point for Harrison in many ways. Years of injuries and the subsequent surgeries had changed the course of his career. There was a left femur injury in 2009, a right hip injury in 2013, a left hip issue in 2014, right shoulder problems in 2014, right wrist trouble in 2014, right adductor difficulties in 2014, left adductor issues in 2014, and a left femur injury again in 2018.

Despite the stop-and-start nature of his career, the injuries, recoveries, and hiatuses, Christian won his first Wimbledon match in 2022. The win, a dream accomplishment, should have been a career-defining moment, but Christian had injured his foot during the match. He left the court with a win, but knew his tournament was over; he would be unable to play in the next round.

The son of a coach, Christian had been around tennis his entire life. Now, he had a dilemma. Continue his singles career, transition to doubles, or leave tennis behind. He chose to enter the doubles ranks.

Success was almost immediate. After trying other partners, Christian started playing with Chicago native, doubles specialist Evan King in 2024. The pair won the Dallas Open, their second ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) tournament together, in February of 2025.

As the team continued to master their craft together. They beat the number 2-seeded team, Great Britain’s Henry Patten and Finland’s Harri Heliovaara, in the quarterfinals before falling to Great Britain’s Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski in the semifinals.

The pair hopes to build on their strong French Open result with more major tournament success. Harrison and King start their Wimbledon journey as the ninth seed against the unranked team of Argentina’s Guido Andreozzi and Brazil’s Marcelo Demoliner on July 2, 2025, at 5 a.m. local time.
