Port Orange Family Days offers weekend of fun, games, music, carnival rides
Amid the busy schedule of fall festivals and events in Volusia County, one of the biggest and most anticipated annual community events will unfold this weekend in Port Orange.

"Shades," the mascot for the Port Orange Community Trust, leads a parade to kick off the nonprofit group's annual Port Orange Family Days festival in 2022. The popular four-day event returns this weekend at Port Orange City Center.
Family Days, a four-day weekend event that started as a neighborhood block party almost three decades ago, runs Thursday-Sunday, Oct. 9-12, at Port Orange City Center.
What is Port Orange Family Days?
Organized by the nonprofit Port Orange Community Trust, this year’s 29th edition of the event will again feature an array of carnival rides, art competitions, parades and hundreds of vendors.
What are highlights of Port Orange Family Days?
Highlights include a “Family Food Night” featuring $2 meals starting at 5 p.m. on Thursday’s opening night.
Also on Thursday, Oct. 9, there will be a “Quiet Time Carnival,” a popular feature that allows guests with sensory issues to exclusively enjoy attractions without big crowds from 3-4:30 p.m. The “Quiet Time” event will be free admission for the first 200 visitors, then $10 per person after that.
On Saturday, Oct. 11, a tropical-themed community “Parade in Paradise” begins at 11 a.m. and is open for free to anyone who wants to participate. Registration is required at the Port Orange Community Trust’s website at poctrust.org.
At 7 p.m. Saturday, there will be Jimmy Buffett-themed music by Caribbean Chillers at the amphitheater.
Is there a pet parade at Port Orange Family Days?
Yes, the annual pet parade is always a big hit at the Port Orange Family Days.
At noon Sunday, Oct. 12, pets will don festive costumes for the annual Halifax Veterinary Center Pet Parade.
What are hours, admission for Port Orange Family Days?
Festival hours are 4:30-10 p.m. Thursday; 5-11 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Free admission, with all-day carnival ride passes available for $30 per person.
