With 2026 practically peeking at us around the corner already, many Malaysians are gearing up to meet the new year head on at Kuala Lumpur hot spots like KLCC and Pavilion KL.

Big crowds, music performances by local artists, fireworks, laser light shows and all sorts of other activites are just some of the exciting things happening all around the capital city on the night of 31 December 2025 as everyone counts down to the beginning of a new year.

For those who love the chaotic celebrations tomorrow night, that’s well and good because we’ve put together a small list of places you should check out (if you don’t already have any plans or have no idea where to start looking).

KLCC Park

KLCC Park has been a staple venue for new year’s eve celebrations for decades, and each year brings something new to the iconic landmark’s annual festivities.

The Petronas Twin Towers will also light up for New Year’s Eve as part of Rhythm of KLCC 2026, taking place at the Esplanade in KLCC Park.

Some of the nation’s most well-known performers, such as Datuk Zainal Abidin, Misha Omar, Joe Flizzow and Sonaone, Nikki Palikat, Dennis Lau, Hafiz Suip, Vanessa Reynauld, and Malaysian boy band Alpha, will perform in addition to a fireworks display.

The Exchange @ Tun Razak Exchange (TRX)

Kuala Lumpur’s tallest building is offering breathtaking fireworks displays by pyrotechnic experts this new year’s eve, along with hourly musical spotlight shows from 8pm onwards.

Activities include a Live Wishing Screen on TRX City Park which starts from 5pm onwards and late-night dining options are available from food trucks at Raintree Plaza, where there’s a bazaar for shoppers.

KL Tower

One of the city’s earliest skyscrapers releases a spectacle of pyrotechnics every year and it’s quite a sight to see if you’re in the area on new year’s eve.

Anyone can watch the fireworks display at KL Tower for free but for a small fee, you can get a premium view of the fireworks and the city skyline.

These front row seats which starts from RM29, will give you access to the tower’s terraces. The experience will feel much more different compared to standing at ground level and far from the action.

Sunway Velocity Mall

Be there early to catch The ROWS market which opens from 4pm onwards, followed by a K-pop dance challenge at 7pm before a DJ remix set starts at 9:30pm until the fireworks display at midnight.

Popular KL coffee joint Blvck Coffee is serving up caffeinated beverages as well as other specialty drinks like their signature Butterbeer at their mobile coffee kiosk (the Blvck Wagon) up in Bukit Tunku this new year’s eve.

You might get to see some fireworks from afar as the city lights up the night sky, but there won’t be suffocating throngs of people around you.

Pro tip: bring a folding chair (and table if you want) as seating is limited, and an electric handheld fan because it could get hot and humid.

Blvck Coffee Ampang Park is a cool spot to hang out too if you want to be closer to the countdown celebrations but be warned, there’s going to be a lot of people there on new year’s eve.

Warung Pagi Pagi, Federal Hill

An underrated outdoor night hangout spot near Galeria Sri Perdana in Kuala Lumpur, the lot where Warung Pagi Pagi stands turns into a bustling lepak destination with various food and beverage vendors that operate all night long (up to 2am!).

Vendors like The Garrison serves up specialty butterbrew that comes in a variety of flavours, and food like pasta and pizza are available at other kiosks.

While it won’t exactly be a quiet place to hang out for the night, the atmosphere is much more communal and intimate here, with camping-style seating available to those who come early.

Another important thing to note is the availability of parking. If you’re heading there late, you might have to get creative about where you’re going to leave your car.

Kopi Rumah, Wangsa Maju

This pop up coffee shop operating out the back of a camper van in Wangsa Maju is an excellent spot to chill as the new year rolls in. They’re open until late and is in a quieter part of town, away from the concrete jungle that is KL.

We’ll remind you again that bringing along an electric handheld fan will be a good idea since it’s a mobile coffee joint and you’ll be sitting outdoors.

Pucks Coffee, Jalan Tun HS Lee

Nestled in a backlane along Jalan Tun HS Lee, Pucks Coffee offers chill vibes and specialty coffee from noon to midnight.

This is a choice spot if you want a place where you can gather with some friends and chill over coffee and conversations until the clock strikes twelve.

Operating out of a bungalow along Jalan Datuk Keramat, Whatever Works is where one goes for coffee, some light sweet treats, and a cozy atmosphere.

Since it’s located in a residential area, this would be a great place to hang out with friends while waiting for the new year to arrive while being away from the craziness in KL’s city center.

Bring a board game, chit chat with your friends, or just sip away at your coffee (or non-coffee drink) right into 2026.
