Frito-Lay Recalls Miss Vickie's Chips Due To Undeclared Allergen
Frito-Lay issued a voluntary allergy alert for eight-ounce bags of Miss Vickie's Spicy Dill Pickle chips on March 4, following the discovery that the chips contained milk, an undeclared allergen.
The mix-up happened when jalapeño-flavored chips containing milk were mistakenly packaged as Spicy Dill Pickle chips, which are typically made without milk. According to the FDA, the chips are safe for anyone without a dairy allergy, and they are not suspected of containing any other contaminants. People with a dairy allergy risk a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume the product.
The chips were distributed as early as January 15 in a variety of retailers, including drugstores, grocery stores, and convenience stores, in six states: Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.
The affected eight-ounce bags of Spicy Dill Pickle Chips will bear the UPC 028400761772 on the packaging. They will also be stamped with a "guaranteed fresh" date of April 21, 2026, and one of two nine-digit manufacturing codes: 38U301414 or 48U101514.
Anyone with a dairy allergy should discard the product immediately. For additional questions, please contact Miss Vickie's or call 1-877-984-2543, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday.
