Internet obsessed with how small tired dog avoids doing any exercise on walk

A dog who loves going on walks—but has devised a plan for the moment he gets tired—has gone viral.

Holly, 34, and Dean, 35, live in Sunshine Coast, Australia, with their baby daughter and their pet dog, Tommy, an English Staffordshire bull terrier, who Holly described to Newsweek as “our baby too.”

The family have got into an expert routine with the arrival of their daughter, and Tommy always joins for walks around the neighborhood. But when he’s had enough of the trek, he doesn’t hesitate to make life easier for himself, as proved by a viral video on social media.

“Tommy is always up for an adventure,” Holly said. “He is loving, funny, and full of personality.

“Sometimes his little legs get tired on walks, and he loves jumping into the pram when he decides he has had enough!”

She admitted: “Strangers always have a little chuckle when they see him. We get funny comments like, ‘Are you walking the dog, or is the dog walking you?’ Kids especially love pointing him out to their parents in surprise.”

In a video posted to Tommy’s dedicated TikTok account, @tommybluestaff, on February 17, Holly responded to the question she’s often asked: “How does he end up in the pram?”

It shows the parents walking their baby down a sunlit street, Tommy following along behind—until he suddenly speeds up and jumps right into the basket at the bottom, settling himself down for a more restful stroll.

The clip shows Tommy doing this multiple times on different walks, showing that this has become a regular habit for him.

Holly wrote in the caption: “At first he would walk for a bit and get in when he got tired. Now, he wants to jump in straight away and we have to try keep him out so he at least gets some exercise first!”

And she told Newsweek: “We really don’t mind when he does it. He is our baby too, so if he wants a ride, he usually gets one.”

TikTok users were obsessed, giving the video more than 22,000 likes, one commenter joking there were “two babies on board.”

“He’s got little legs, why use them when he can get around like this?” another said, while one lovingly wrote: “Staffys are so goofy.”

“Work smarter not harder,” one said, as another demanded: “These companies need to start making strollers and prams that are dog accessible!”

“When the videos started getting more attention, we didn’t think too much of it at first,” Holly told Newsweek. “Tommy is always doing hilarious things, so we are pretty used to it by now. What feels novel to others is just a regular day for us!”

“He will climb straight onto skateboards, scooters, moving trolleys, surfboards, and even homemade sleds. After we got the pram, he just helped himself into it as if it was rightfully his place.”
