Bunnings released a new rug range, here’s what two stylists think of the quality

For a limited time, the Aussie retailer has a selection of rugs on offer, and they are seriously impressive. To make choosing just one easier, we asked two stylists for their top picks. This is what they said.

Are the Bunnings rugs good quality?

Both stylists agree that while these rugs are budget-friendly, they don’t sacrifice durability. Lucy puts it plainly: “I think at this price point, people can’t expect luxury but should still expect beautiful colour and pattern made of durable materials that won’t wear out quickly.”

Tara echoes this, saying that both the MaxFind and La’Grace Home ranges are made from polypropylene and polyester and are typically power-loomed, meaning they are machine-woven, making them “affordable yet very durable and long-lasting.”

Lucy’s picks

After looking at the rugs, Lucy says she was impressed by the available colours and patterns.

“I love these three rugs because their colours and patterns feel very on-trend in 2026,” she says.

She adds: “The current rug styles that are selling well right now have bold, strong lines with vibrant pastel colours. Browns are doing well too- and feel very chic as long as they are paired with warm neutrals and putty colours.

Tara’s picks

Tara says the abstract, distressed-style rug is very popular at the moment, bringing “a modern, contemporary element” to a space.

The colours are “often muted but add a soft pop to a room without introducing another style or design element.”

Single-colour rugs are also having a moment. Rather than relying on pattern, these rugs use the texture of the pile itself to create visual interest, whether through a subtle woven pattern or a looser weave.

“These rugs are usually in the trending natural, textured, earthy colours.”

But if she had to choose, Tara says there are two Bunnings rug ranges that stand out: The MaxFind range and La Grace Home.

Bunnings rugs FAQs

What size rug do I need?

Both stylists agree on this one: go bigger than you think. Tara warns that “people tend to buy too small,” adding that “a rug should be larger than your sofa” and that “a larger rug adds style and comfort to your living room, bedroom, dining room, or even your office.” Lucy agrees: “Buy the biggest rug you can afford for your space. Small rugs make the space feel downmarket. You can fake luxury with a large rug that fits underneath your bed or sofa legs!”

Are Bunnings rugs washable?

Some rugs in the Bunnings range, including select MaxFind styles, are machine washable. Polypropylene rugs can also simply be hosed down and left to dry outdoors, making them a practical choice for busy households.

What is the best rug material?

Polypropylene is the most practical choice for most homes. It’s durable, stain-resistant and easy to clean. The MaxFind and La’Grace Home ranges at Bunnings are made from polypropylene and polyester, making them a solid everyday option. Viscose adds a softer, silkier finish but is better suited to lower-traffic areas.

How long will the Bunnings rug range be available?

The Bunnings rug range is a limited seasonal release available while stocks last. It typically lands in autumn and sells out quickly, so it’s worth buying sooner rather than later.
