F1 grandstand construction will block views of Bellagio Fountains on Las Vegas Strip
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — It won’t be long before one of the most photographed attractions in Las Vegas is at the center of a construction zone filled with cranes, metal framing and an utter chaos of traffic cones.
Construction to prepare for the third running of the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix is just about upon us, and tourists must think Las Vegans have lost their minds.

F1 is about to obscure the fountains for nearly three months as the grandstands go up in front of Bellagio Hotel & Casino.
Lane reductions begin at 1 a.m. on Sept. 15 and go 24 hours a day through Nov. 10. Then, the practice, qualifying and the main event. Then, teardown. If seeing the fountains is a priority, get a view from up high, or check back in late December.
In Year 1, Las Vegas was appalled at the sight of trees being ripped out in front of the fountains. Now, it’s a choreographed change of seasons, carting the trees away and replacing them after the race.

The Bellagio Fountain Club is a big money-maker for MGM Resorts International, with tickets in Year 3 starting at $8,054.91, including taxes and fees. No one else at the race will get that view of the fountains, and it’s a perk right there along with celebrity chef curated menus, fine wines and cocktails, rooftop nightlife, and a great view of the main straightaway on the track. Tickets in Year 1 were about $2,000 higher.
Once construction starts, safety will be paramount and access will be restricted.
