Las Vegas Chinatown business owner celebrates Vegas Loop expansion post
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Joe Muscaglione knew Las Vegas Chinatown needed a Boring Co. Vegas Loop station deeper into the neighborhood, and it appeared his tenacity paid off after an unlikely social media post.
Owner of ShangHai Taste, Muscaglione, explained how the existing three-station plan for the Vegas Loop in Chinatown appeared not to reach the neighborhood. One of the locations, near Polaris and Twain, was not technically in a neighborhood.
“It’s a little bit of a haul to get here,” he said. “And if it’s 108 degrees, I don’t think people would want to get this far.”

Muscaglione said he decided to enter his neighborhood for a Boring Co. station in the “Tunnel Vision” contest hosted by the company. The winner receives a fully paid position. Before finalists were announced, he said they appeared to be an early favorite.
The proposal, a one-mile tunnel tapping into their planned-to-be-built infrastructure, but when the 16 finalists were announced, it appeared to be bad news for Chinatown, according to Muscaglione.
“When I woke up in the morning, and I didn’t see it there,” he said. “I kept putting my finger up and down.”
The 16 finalists included station proposals in Texas, Colorado, and Panama, according to the “Tunnel Vision” website.

Disappointed, Muscaglione went to X, formerly Twitter, to post about the outcome and thank the community for their support and awareness campaign for Chinatown.
“I sent out a tweet, a little bit disappointed,” he said. “I tagged [The Boring Co.] on it.”
“This is like, holy crap,” he said.
It is not yet known how much the expansion will cost or where the station will go. 8 News Now crews observed the storage of The Boring Co. tunnel equipment near Polaris and Twain, which appeared to be connected to the tunnel planned for that area.
