LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Global holiday traditions are taking center stage inside the Las Vegas Science & Natural History Museum for its annual December to Remember exhibit, which showcases stories, art, and holiday celebrations from around the world.
Ashley Glenn, the museum’s marketing director, showed Good Day Las Vegas’ JC Fernandez the displays celebrating traditions from Japan to Germany, telling us how food and family traditions shape holiday celebrations around the world.

In Japan many families now enjoy KFC as a Christmas meal, this is a custom that grew out of a massive Kentucky Fried Chicken marketing campaign in the 1970s that popularized the idea of “Kentucky for Christmas.”
There’s also a Nutcracker display, which explains why the Nutcracker has become a Christmas icon. The Nutcracker traces its holiday roots to Germany, where it was initially crafted as a symbol of good luck and home protection.
From Kwanzaa to the Feast of the Seven Fishes, you will learn about global holiday traditions and see handmade holiday art from kids across the Las Vegas Valley, showcasing their families’ traditions, including an 8-year-old’s clay model train filled with family figures inspired by her annual trip to ride the Santa Train in Boulder City.
December to Remember at the Las Vegas Natural History & Science Museum blends education, culture, art, and the holidays into a family-friendly holiday experience that runs through January 9, 2026.
