You don’t always need a full bathroom renovation to get the impact you’re after. With a few thoughtful tweaks, you can transform your bathroom into a relaxing escape.
Simple touches like lighting will make the biggest difference: “Bring in accent lighting to illuminate a mirror or shaving cabinet,” says Sophie. It will soften harsh lines and give the room a more calming effect.
Once you’ve nailed lighting, mirrors are the next simple swap. “For a mirror in the bathroom, I like to choose a framed piece with subtle, eye-catching details that add warmth.”
Your choice in hardware can also transform a room and add character. “A character-filled alternative to regular chrome or popular gold finishes, authentic antique brass tapware is a timeless choice.”

Creating a beautiful bathroom experience, even when renting or on a budget, is all about small moments of luxury, and nothing ups the comfort stakes in a bathroom like a set of luxe towels. “Egyptian cotton, bamboo or cotton all fit the bill.”
Scents also go a long way when it comes to creating a room you want to spend time in. “A scented bar of soap or a beautifully perfumed luxury soap duo is a simple way to elevate practical daily rituals.”
And for the extra luxurious touches, make intentional choices with your everyday pieces. “A delicate handwash in a beautiful glass bottle adds a luxurious edge, or you could consider a careful selection of skincare that will look as stylish on display as it will on skin.”
