Kate Middleton pairs blue tartan coat with her favorite sapphire earrings on Scottish visit
Kate Middleton and Prince William are in Scotland today for a day of engagements, including visiting the National Curling Academy to meet with athletes heading to the Winter Olympics in just a few weeks. For the occasion, the Princess of Wales chose a long blue tartan coat—which is by Chris Kerr Bespoke Tailor—a nod to Scottish heritage.

Underneath her jacket she wore a turtleneck, skirt, and a patterned fair isle sweater vest. Kate accessorized with her favorite pair of sapphire and diamond cluster drop earrings, ones that Prince William reportedly gifted her around their 2011 wedding.

Notably, too, Kate chose to wear her 12-carat, oval-cut Ceylon blue sapphire engagement ring and new ring stack after she did not wear it on her two previous engagements of this year.
Today, however, the Princess appeared to pair her engagement ring with the ring stack, which features a relatively new diamond-and-sapphire eternity band that she first started wearing during summer 2024, her Welsh gold wedding band, and a diamond eternity ring. Both eternity bands were created by G. Collins & Sons.

Kate has been switching up her ring finger styles.
While the Princess of Wales’s jacket today is most likely a bespoke creation, there are many other blue tartan coats available now if you’re looking to replicate her style, including offerings from Ralph Lauren and Miu Miu.
Over the weekend, Kate made a quiet visit to watch Woolf Works, a ballet at the Royal Opera House. The production is described as an “experimental ballet triptych inspired by the genre-defying works and writings of Virginia Woolf.” On Instagram Stories, Kate wrote, “Thank you to The Royal Ballet for an amazing evening of creative inspiration at Woolf Works this weekend,” signing it “C” for Catherine.
