Buckingham Palace's garden: Style moments from Kate Middleton and more
Friday's Buckingham Palace garden party featured senior members of the British royal family wearing their springtime best. From Kate Middleton to Zara Tindall, shades of blue, polka-dot patterns and more were aplenty on the green lawn of the London palace.
Roland Mouret and Self-Portrait were among the designers and labels featured on British royal women for Friday's festivities, with additions of seasonal motifs that set each royal apart from the other. WWD breaks down those looks and more ahead.
Kate Middleton
Kate Middleton favored London-based luxury brand Self-Portrait for her attire to Friday's garden party. The Princess of Wales wore a cream three-dimensional floral polka-dot midi dress, crafted with a streamlined bodice with three-quarter-length sleeves and a double-breasted fit with black buttons. A belt was added at the waist for further silhouette definition.
The skirt of the dress flowed with ease and included the black polka-dot motif set against the cream fabric. Middleton wore a vintage Mitzi Lorenz black and white hat to coordinate her look, along with Ralph Lauren pumps in a neutral tone. She also carried a woven clutch courtesy of Australian label Forever New.
The Princess of Wales completed her ensemble with a sentimental touch, accessorizing her springtime garden party look with Queen Elizabeth II's Bahrain pearl drop earrings - a jewelry set she's worn in the past for more somber occasions like Holocaust Remembrance Day services in January 2025.
Sophie, Duchess of Edinbrugh
Sophie, Duchess of Edinbrugh, opted for a royal rewear with her look. The British royal family member opted for her short-sleeve bow flat knit midi dress in light blue by Roland Mouret - a brand Kate Middleton recently styled during a daytime engagement on Wednesday.
The duchess went monochrome to accentuate her dress, wearing her Prada pastel blue pumps and adding a custom made straw hat with hand-painted flowers, which she previously wore for Royal Ascot.
Zara Tindall
Like Duchess Sophie, Zara Tindall also saw shades of blue. The late Queen Elizabeth II's granddaughter wore a custom iteration of the Cleo midi dress in a shade of Azure by Leo Lin, featuring short sleeves with emphasized shoulders, a fitted bodice, belted waist and floral embroidered skirt. Tindall augmented her sartorial color scheme with the Bondi boater hat by milliner Sarah Cant.
Finishing touches to her look included Hector Lion Jewellery pieces and duck egg blue pumps by British luxury label Emmy London.
