Is this the real reason Meghan Markle could be plotting a return to Britain?
INSIDERS CONFUSED BY MEGHAN'S RETURN

When Meghan Markle joined her husband in quitting as a working royal and leaving the UK permanently in 2022, she described her time in the country as ‘almost unsurvivable’. This has left many royal insiders scratching their heads as the Duchess of Sussex is now set to accompany Prince Harry on an upcoming trip to the UK. Pic: Getty Images
MEGHAN SLAMS UK

The confusion largely comes from Meghan’s consistent insults of Britain ever since she fled to the US. Despite the royal family offering her a number of free houses, all equipped with unimaginable amounts of staff, the former royal has never had too many kind words to say about the UK. ACCUSATIONS OF RACISM

In an Earth-shattering interview with Oprah in 2021, Meghan made a number of claims about Britain and the Royal Family, even accusing the Palace of hiding racism behind its doors. This stemmed from allegations that high-ranking members of the Royal Family did not take her seriously when she claimed numerous press headlines about her had racist undertones. COMPLAINS ABOUT FROGMORE

Meghan has also described her time in the Royal Family as old-fashioned, uncaring, and unfeeling. She has also subtly compared her experience to that of torture. Meghan has even complained about her relocation to Frogmore Cottage, describing it as her ‘final straw’. She allegedly took issue with the location and size of her gifted home, describing it as ‘tiny’ and in ‘rural obscurity’. Pic: REX
PERFECT LIFE IN US

Meghan has now found moderate success with her As Ever brand and seems to live a perfect life in her Montecito mansion with Harry and their two children. She has also built a large career as somewhat of an influencer, even appearing at Paris Fashion Week last year. This has left royal experts baffled as to why she would want to return. 'FAIRY DUST IS WEARING OFF'

Writing in the Daily Mail, royal commentator Sarah Vine has suggested that the real reason Meghan wants to return is that ‘the royal fairy dust is finally wearing off.’ Vine claimed that the former royal is returning to ‘stay relevant’ and ‘stay commercial’. Pic: Getty Images
RETURN A BOOST IN POPULARITY

‘Without her royal connections and victim/survivor narrative, The Duchess is just another middle-aged minor actress with a lifestyle brand to flog. And those people are ten-a-penny,’ she continued. The veteran royal commentator suggested that a high-profile return to the UK could act as a massive boost in popularity for Meghan. Pic: Samir Hussein/WireImage
WILL BE 'INSTAGRAMMABLE'

‘The whole thing would, of course, be eminently Instagrammable. Maybe a few wistful black and white shots of her and Harry holding hands by the lake at Windsor, where they first lived as newlyweds?’ she suggested. Vine also claimed that royal fans can possibly expect a picture of Meghan and Princess Catherine as it would prove the pair have finally ‘buried the hatchet’. Pic: Karwai Tang/Getty Images
DEPENDENT ON HARRY'S SECURITY ROW

For now, Meghan’s return is dependent on her husband’s success in securing an upgrade to his taxpayer-funded security, which is currently under review. Harry has long claimed that without such security, it would be unsafe for him and his family to return to Britain. Pic: Suzanne Plunkett - Pool/Getty Images
MEGHAN 'NERVOUS' FOR RETURN

Meanwhile, reports have suggested that Meghan feels ‘nervous’ about returning to the UK for the first time in four years, last visiting for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. It is understood that Meghan’s visit will take place this summer as she accompanies Harry in opening the 2027 Invictus Games. Pic: Clive Brunskill/Getty Images
