We compared ALDI’s Girl Scout cookie dupes to the real ones—here’s how they stack up
We put four flavors to the test.

Every year, just as the post-holiday letdown sets in, it’s again time to order up those tasty Girl Scout Cookies in bulk. And as much as we love the original Girl Scout Cookies, we also love a dupe. Especially when, in this case, it means you can get your hands on these cookies’ nostalgic flavors year-round, at a lower price per cookie.

ALDI’s Girl Scout Cookie Dupes
Several grocery chains offer their own takes on the snack icons, and ALDI in particular offers four cookies that are incredibly similar to fan-favorite Girl Scout Cookies. The dupes have been winning praise on the grocery chain’s r/ALDI subreddit in recent weeks, so we had to put them to the test by directly comparing each one to its Girl Scout Cookie inspiration.
ALDI’s lineup of Girl Scout Cookie dupes includes:
- Benton’s Peanut Butter Creme Sandwich Cookies (Do-si-Dos)
- Benton’s Peanut Butter Filled Cookies (Tagalongs)
- Benton’s Danish Butter Cookies (Trefoils)
- Benton’s Caramel Coconut Fudge Cookies (Samoas/Caramel deLites)
The cookies range in price from less than $3 to just over $4 per pack, compared to the current $6 price per box of Girl Scout Cookies. All four ALDI dupes also contained more cookies than the original Girl Scout Cookie.

The Taste Test
But how did the ALDI cookies taste in comparison to the originals? Here are my thoughts:
Do-si-Dos
The test began with the Do-si-Dos, and I was shocked by how identical the cookies looked. These were perhaps the most convincing stage doubles of the group. Flavor-wise, the Girl Scout Cookie had a slightly sweeter, more layered profile, but I actually preferred the more peanut-forward taste of the ALDI version.
Tagalongs
Next came the Tagalong contenders. The biggest difference between the Girl Scout Cookie and its ALDI cousin was the inner cookie layer. The Girl Scout Cookie’s cookie layer was crunchier and a light tan in color compared to the ALDI’s dark chocolate coloring. The peanut butter flavor was also more present in the Girl Scout Cookie, with a richer-tasting chocolate coating, so this round went to the Girl Scouts.
Trefoils
When it came to the Trefoil cookies, this comparison was honestly a bit more of a stretch. ALDI’s Danish Butter Cookies do have a very similar flavor and composition to the Trefoil, but many of the cookies in its tin box are coated with granulated sugar, so that isn’t a totally fair comparison. When comparing the plain ALDI butter cookies to the original Trefoil, though, I appreciated the Girl Scout Cookie for its creamier texture and sweeter taste. This round again went to the Girl Scouts.
A Flavorful Tie
We left our favorite Girl Scout Cookie—the Samoa or Caramel deLite—for last. These cookies, again, were nearly identical in appearance, though the Girl Scout Cookie version had an inner texture that was a bit chewier and moister than the ALDI dupe. We also appreciated the crunchier texture of ALDI’s version. If we’re being honest, the Samoa is so iconic that it’s tough for anything to come close, but ALDI’s version really does, so I'm declaring this a tie.
Final Verdict
All in all, the Girl Scout Cookies scored the win, but the ALDI dupes held their own, impressing with flavors and textures while also putting their own spin on the classics. It’s never a bad thing to have options! But if you're looking to support a cause and indulge in some delicious treats, remember that all Girl Scout cookie proceeds go straight to your local troops.
