Burger King Has 4 All-New Menu Items—and We Tried Them First
Look out, Wendy's.

This year, fast food chains have really leaned into nostalgia to get fans back to the drive-thru. In addition to dozens of new, delicious menu items, chains have seen that two heads are better than one by partnering with other fan-loved brands. We’ve seen the Wendy’s Girl Scouts Thin Mints Frosty, McDonald’s "A Minecraft Movie" Meal, and Burger King’s "How To Train Your Dragon Meal"—and 2025 isn’t over yet.
McDonald’s highly anticipated The Grinch Meal launches in restaurants on Dec. 2, but don’t fill up on the Big Mac and McShaker Fries because that’s not the only drive-thru you’ll want to hit. Burger King is releasing an all-new meal that will transport you to a pineapple under the sea.
In honor of the new "The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants," Burger King is debuting a new SpongeBob Menu.
Burger King Launches New SpongeBob Menu
Burger King’s SpongeBob Menu features four all-new menu items, including SpongeBob’s Krabby Whopper, Mr. Krabs’ Cheesy Bacon Tots, Patrick’s Star-berry Shortcake Pie, and Pirate’s Frozen Pineapple Float.

The SpongeBob’s Krabby Whopper is the same Whopper you know, with a flame-grilled, quarter-pound patty topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, mayo, and ketchup; however, like many of BK’s collabs, the Whopper features a yellow bun that’s naturally dyed with spices. And, for the first time ever, the Whopper bun will be square as a nod to the beloved sea sponge.
Instead of one of Burger King’s iconic fry sides, the chain is releasing new Mr. Krabs’ Cheesy Bacon Tots, which are coin-shaped, crispy tots filled with cheese, bacon, and potatoes.
Burger King is introducing a new Patrick’s Star-berry Shortcake Pie to go with its beloved Hershey’s Sundae Pie. The strawberry shortcake pie slice features creamy strawberry and vanilla layers, a cookie crumb crust, shortcake cookie crumbles, and pink star-shaped sprinkles.
Lastly, to expand on its drink program, BK is debuting the new Pirate’s Frozen Pineapple Float. The frozen pineapple beverage is topped with a tropical-flavored cold foam, akin to a piña colada.
You may recall that SpongeBob SquarePants made his fast food rounds last year for the show’s 25th anniversary in the Wendy’s Krabby Patty Kollab. That meal featured two new items, a Krabby Patty Kollab Burger and Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty, but BK is going all in with its menu, including special packaging, a special box, and toys.
The new meal will be available in the Bikini Bottom Bundle, which comes in a pineapple-shaped Under the Sea Box with a medium drink and eight-count Cheesy Bacon Tots. There will also be a kids’ option in the King Jr. meal, which comes in the Under the Sea Box and also includes one of six collectible toys and a limited-edition SpongeBob crown. All four items will also be available à la carte.
The limited-time SpongeBob Menu hits Burger King restaurants in the U.S. on Dec. 2. I tried the meal early at the Burger King headquarters, and here is my honest review.
My Honest Review of Burger King's SpongeBob Menu

The theming of this meal is really great, and I am sure that between this and Mickey D’s Grinch Meal, we’ll see fans racing to the drive-thru. I appreciate that Burger King is adding four new menu items for the meal, even though SpongeBob’s Krabby Whopper isn’t actually that much different, it’s still more exciting than a plain Whopper. However, I have to admit that the square bun did taste a little bit drier than the typical Whopper bun, but I could easily overlook that because of the delicious, juicy, flame-grilled patty and toppings.
Mr. Krabs’ Cheesy Bacon Tots were the hit of the tasting room at BK HQ. Everyone loved the savory, cheesy tots—I, especially, enjoyed them dipped in a side of ranch.
The Pirate’s Frozen Pineapple Float is not your typical December fast food drink, but it will likely be a welcome change from the peppermint mochas and sugar cookie shakes of the season. It tastes just like you’re sipping a piña colada on an island somewhere—and let’s just say spiking it with a little coconut rum isn’t the worst idea.
My personal favorite of the entire meal, which actually surprised me, was the Patrick’s Star-berry Shortcake Pie. I now understand why fans love the creamy, decadent Hershey’s one. The new pie tastes like the Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake bar in pie form—and even after devouring a Whopper (two Whoppers, actually, since I tasted this the same day as the Halloween menu), the cheesy tots, and drink, I still finished the entire pie. It’s that good.
