We can’t take our eyes off Jessie Buckley’s Dior look at the Critics Choice Awards

The 2026 awards season is officially under way this morning, with the Critics Choice Awards taking place in Santa Monica, California. One actor who is already tipped to be this season’s darling is Jessie Buckley, who is nominated this evening for her role in Hamnet.

On the red carpet, Buckley’s look was a masterclass in effortless tailoring, which perfectly captures the actor who is impossible to ignore this season. Buckley arrived wearing head-to-toe Dior, with wide-leg black trousers topped with an ivory silk halter secured with oversized bows at the hips. The latter has quickly become a signature of Dior’s new creative director, Jonathan Anderson, who just three days ago, released his own interpretation of the Maison’s most enduring symbols — the bow — with his Spring/Summer 2026 bag releases.

Buckley kept the rest of her look as sleek as the outfit, with her short hair styled in a deep side part and a natural makeup look that allowed her sculptural diamond earrings to shine.

This evening, Buckley is nominated for Best Actress thanks to her devastating performance in Chloé Zhao’s adaptation of Maggie O’Farrell’s novel, Hamnet, which she stars in opposite Paul Mescal. As Anne Hathaway — Shakespeare’s wife, not the actress — the film explores the death of the Shakespeare’s only son, Hamnet, and Buckley portrays Anne’s anguish with a ferocity that feels undeniably intimate. Buckley’s emotional performance has left critics tipping her as the one to watch this season, and with the Critics Choice Awards widely accepted to be an early indicator of who will sweep the other awards shows, we will soon know how true this proves to be.

The Irish actress has been on a remarkable trajectory, following roles in The Lost Daughter, I’m Thinking of Ending Things, and Women Talking. But Hamnet feels like a defining moment.
