ALDI predicts these 3 produce trends will shape how we shop in 2026
We never knew the produce aisle could be so newsworthy.

You might have already snagged the trendiest paint colors of 2026, but what about the most popular produce items? As it turns out, your local grocery store is full of soon-to-be celebrities, from unique berry varieties to the trendiest produce aisle snacks.
Who better to give us the run-down on this year's biggest produce trends than ALDI? We spoke with two experts to get their thoughts on the upcoming produce trends of 2026 and what produce picks ALDI has in store for shoppers this year.
Meet the Experts
- Bill Duesenberg is the director of national buying for produce for ALDI USA.
- Blair Cooley is a registered dietitian based in Houston, TX.
1. Luxury Berries (For Less)
Your favorite bite-sized fruits are getting a glamorous makeover this year. According to ALDI, luxury berries are about to take over in 2026.
Autumn crisp grapes are undoubtedly going to be one of the favorite berries of 2026. These green grapes are twice the size of the grapes you’re used to eating, and they’re perfectly crispy and crunchy. Autumn crisp grapes are uniquely sweet, much more so than other grape varietals; due to their size, they’re also especially juicy.
Duesenberg recommends adding autumn crisp grapes to your charcuterie board for an extra-special cheese pairing. If you’re not making Prosecco grapes with them (which you totally should), Cooley says that sprinkling them with lime juice and popping them in the freezer will give you a sorbet-like treat.
The average strawberry has also gotten quite the makeover at ALDI. The store’s “dreamberry” strawberries are grown out of two greenhouses in New York and Kentucky; they’re smaller than the strawberries you might be used to seeing at your local grocery store, which makes them all the sweeter. Duesenberg says that these berries are “of summer quality in the winter months”—like a wild strawberry you can enjoy outside of summertime.

2. Fiber-Rich Fruits
Fiber is one of the biggest food trends of the year for 2026, and for good reason. Shoppers are looking to boost their gut health, help their digestive systems, and get more nutrients from their diet. This year, you might just find that fiber focus in the produce aisle.
Longtime produce favorites like berries, apples, root veggies, and oranges are all good sources of fiber and are likely to become even more trendy this year, as consumers focus on creating gut-healthy recipes. Cooley points out that more people should be aware of how high in fiber berries can be; pair them with cheese, nuts, or seeds, for a filling snack.
Oranges are another fiber-rich fruit top of mind for ALDI, with the brand spotlighting one intriguing citrus specifically. The reddish-pink Cara Cara orange is a highly unique source of fiber and is exactly the trendy, eye-catching type of produce that customers are looking for in 2026. This ultra-sweet orange is sweeter than any citrus you’ve tasted before. Its flesh is high in fiber, and Cooley points out that its high fiber content helps you avoid blood sugar spikes when eating it. She also recommends dipping it in dark chocolate and sprinkling each orange slice with sea salt for a fiber-focused dessert.

3. Popular Produce
There are a few particular produce items that Duesenberg says will take off in a major way this year, especially at ALDI.
Mini Cucumbers
The first is mini cucumbers—their itty-bitty size has them winning over customers as a quick and easy snack that’s fun to eat. These tiny, viral cucumbers don’t have as many seeds as full-sized cucumbers, but they’re still deliciously crunchy, juicy, and hydrating. Dip them in hummus (or ALDI’s Park Street Deli Dill dip) for a filling snack. Cooley also points out that you can give them a quick pickle in your fridge to turn them into tiny pickles.
Organic Tomatoes
ALDI’s organic tomatoes are a treat to snack on, especially when you pair them with your favorite dip. As a matter of fact, cherub tomatoes (a type of grape tomato) are the #1 snacking tomato in the entire country, says Duesenberg. In particular, they’re versatile because they have a thin external skin. You’ll still get a satisfying, juicy crunch when you snack on cherub tomatoes, but the skin cooks down easily into a sauce or tomato soup.
Raw Zucchini
You might already be aware of a few clever uses for zucchini, likemaking zucchini noodles or zucchini breads, but did you know that you can also eat zucchini raw? Duesenberg and Cooley point out that it’s quite delicious on its own, especially if you have something to dip it into. You can also roast it, season it, and serve it as a side dish; Cooley even likes to grate it into her ground beef or turkey to give it more volume, helping stretch your meat for longer.
Cabbage
Dueseberg says you’ll also be seeing cabbage all over the place in 2026, if you haven’t started to see it on your social media feed already. It’s affordable and fantastic for cooking. Roast it up into a cabbage steak, or stuff the leaves with meat and rice. Pickled cabbage is also a gut-healthy way to enjoy this budget-friendly produce find. And yes, you can eat cabbage raw as well, so we think 2026 is the year you should give it a shot.
