Popular Grand Rapids record store to celebrate two years in business
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — On April 18, visitors to Black Dog Books & Records can attend the shop’s combined two-year anniversary party and Record Store Day event.
“We will be putting out hundreds of new books,” said Bill Moore, general manager of Black Dog Books & Record. “Hundreds of CDs, tapes, DVDs.”
Beginning at 9 a.m., shoppers can enjoy complimentary baked goods as they explore the shop’s large collection of vintage media, pop culture memorabilia and merchandise.
“We will have the entire front lounge area full of physical media,” Moore said.
Black Dog Books & Records’ anniversary party will take place on Record Store Day, an annual event often celebrated by local record stores that features brand-new and limited edition vinyl.
In previous years, Moore has seen over a thousand shoppers visit Black Dog Books & Records during the all-day event.
“I’m hoping that we can get the same numbers we’ve had the past couple of years,” Moore said.
At 12:30 p.m., complimentary pizza will be served by local pizza shop, Quarantino’s. Live DJs will also perform throughout the day.
“The farmer’s market will be in full swing,” Moore said. “It’ll be a nice day to be out of the house.”
Black Dog Books & Records’ anniversary event will take place from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
