Princess Kate is so regal in a rare, official new tiara portrait
Princess Catherine is regal as ever in a newly shared portrait taken at the Nigeria State Banquet. In the image, which she and Prince William shared on their joint Instagram account, the two are seen smiling widely in their glamorous royal ensembles from the evening.
The moment was captured by Nigeria-born, London-based photographer Christianah Ebenezer.
It’s a rare, special photo of the couple, and particularly of Kate, who does not often wear a tiara in official portraits. (See another example here.) It’s also unusual in that Kate is seen standing very close to William, with the two nearly embracing.

The evening was hosted by the British royals to welcome Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and first lady Oluremi Tinubu to Windsor Castle.

For the occasion, Kate was exquisite in an emerald-green gown with bishop sleeves, and satin heels in the same shade of green. But the most enchanting part of her ensemble was her crown: Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara.
To add to the shimmer, Kate further accessorized with her set of Greville sapphire-and-diamond fringe drop earrings, a glittery gold clutch, and a crystal-studded brooch, the Royal Family Order of King Charles III, featuring a miniature portrait of her father-in-law.

William, meanwhile, wore his traditional Windsor uniform—a formal court dress worn only at Windsor Castle for evening events. The black tuxedo-style jacket is decorated with red details on the collar and cuffs and adorned with gilt buttons featuring the Garter star.
