Travel ban issued for Ohio Turnpike: details
(WJW) — Ahead of forecasted high winds, rain and snow, the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission has issued a travel ban for the toll road the Ohio Turnpike.
The ban is for high-profile vehicles — anything taller than 7 feet, 6 inches — and is in effect from Wednesday, Nov. 26, 8 a.m. through Thursday, Nov. 27 at 11:59 p.m.
The following types of vehicles are banned during the restriction:
- All high-profile tow-behind trailers, campers, boats, and enclosed trailers. (Fifth wheel trailers are excluded.)
- Commercial trucks towing an empty single 53-foot trailer
- All mobile homes, office trailers and livestock trailers
- All long combination vehicles (LCV) that include long double-trailer combinations exceeding 90-feet in length. (Enclosed trailers only, including Conestoga type trailers); and
- All LCV triple-trailer combinations
- 2-axle buses longer than forty (40) feet
- Buses with 3 or more axles greater than forty-five (45) feet
A LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING is in effect for Cuyahoga, Lake, Ashtabula, and Geauga Counties from 1 a.m. Thursday through 7 p.m. on Friday due to accumulating lake effect snow bands. And, a WIND ADVISORY has been issued for much of the area starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday and continuing through 4 a.m. Thursday.
FOX 8 Meteorologists are calling for wind gusts between 40-50 MPH Wednesday into Thursday.
