Top 8+ Palm Beach County restaurants that closed in the past year
Whether it's six months or 60 years, the sad truth is all restaurants have a lifespan. As many new dining destinations come onto the hopping Palm Beach County scene, offering creative dishes, prepared by passionate chefs, the best cuts of beef and the freshest seafood, that doesn't mean we were ready to give up those that had worked their way into our lives.
So, let's take this moment to remember the great meals and good times.
Here are eight restaurants in central Palm Beach County that have closed in the past year.
Oriental Food Market, West Palm Beach
Serving up all kinds of delicious Asian foods, like sticky rice, papaya salad, spring rolls and house‑made kimchi for 40 years, this tiny Thai specialty grocery on South Dixie Highway is the most recent on our list announcing its pending closure in February. Owner Juree Mitchell, known as Julie to her regulars, said they received a "surprise" email just after Christmas telling them that the lease at 4919 S. Dixie Highway, in the Raintree Plaza strip, would not be renewed. “My heart broke,” Mitchell said. They are set to close March 1.
DalMoros, West Palm Beach
Known for high-quality pasta made fresh throughout the day and scratch-made sauces, DalMoros Fresh Pasta To Go on Clematis Street opened in March 2024, in a ceremony that was attended by several West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority members. The restaurant closed in fall 2024. Owner David Caruso had been excited about the great walkability of the area and the popularity of the West Palm Beach street. Though it didn't work out on Clematis Street, Caruso said DalMoros on Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach is doing well.
Banko Cantina, West Palm Beach
Located in a completely restored 1920s bank building on Olive Avenue near Clematis Street, this restaurant and rooftop bar had been home to Latin flair and weekend revelry in downtown West Palm Beach for nearly a decade. The restaurant featured three separate levels and was adorned with murals by artist David Bozic. Former Palm Beach Post restaurant critic and Pulitzer Prize winner Liz Balmaseda praised the chips and salsas in a 2016 review, writing “Banko Cantina’s terrific tortilla chips enhance the bite. They are served hot and crisp and zippy with lime flavor.” It closed in November 2025.
PB Catch, Palm Beach

PB Catch seafood restaurant in Palm Beach.
Palm Beach's PB Catch closed its doors in October 2025 after 14 years. Since the closing, a new restaurant, The Polo Room, has opened in the same space on Sunrise Avenue. The Polo Room's include Argentine polo star Nacho Figueras, who’s also a model dubbed the “David Beckham of polo” and the face of certain Ralph Lauren fashion lines.
Not So Bizaare Ave Café, Lake Worth Beach
This restaurant opened on Lake Avenue just west of South Dixie Highway in August 2024 and was a reincarnation of the Bizaare Ave Café that closed in that spot a decade earlier. With strong ties to its storied past, the new restaurant was helmed by chef Lisa "Aloha-Lani" Mercado. Mercado was the original's dessert chef and was well known for her award-winning peanut butter pie. Using the original menu, she brought back many of the favorites while adding several dishes, including the popular Huli Huli chicken featuring a pineapple-guava teriyaki sauce and coconut rice. In addition to the cuisine, Mercado worked hard to bring back the original's funky, bohemian vibe. In the end, despite excellent reviews, Mercado said "The support from the local community was amazing. There just wasn't enough unfortunately." Not So Bizaare Ave Café closed in April 2025.
Lula's by Todd English, Lake Worth Beach
At the corner of Lake Avenue and J Street in downtown Lake Worth Beach, Lula's by Todd English opened in October 2024 and served its last meals the final weekend of May 2025. Lula's was led by James Beard Award-winning chef and restaurateur Todd English. The restaurant took its name from a combination of the city's two main streets, Lucerne and Lake Avenues. It was inspired by Italian traditions and modern steakhouse favorites. Since the closing a new restaurant Pomona has taken over the location. They opened in August 2025.
Rhum Shack, Lake Worth Beach

The Rhum Shak in downtown Lake Worth Beach closed on Sunday, April 13.
In business in the 800 block of Lake Avenue for 11 years, this downtown institution closed its doors in April 2025. They were known for their Tuesday Bingo Nights, wild and fun Karaoke nights, nearly all-day happy hour, wings and fun bartenders. At the time of the closing, some online commenters suggested that Rhum Shak's closing could signal the end of the 'L-Dub's' bohemian vibe and the coming of a more gentrified downtown.
Cantina Americana, Lake Worth Beach

Though the sign may say open, Cantina Americana, in downtown Lake Worth Beach has closed.
Known for its authentic Latin-American cuisine, Cantina Americana opened in February 2025, but by June the restaurant had closed, as reported on the website byjoecapozzi.com. Previously, the beautifully-decorated space was home to Cana Bar & Grill, which specialized in pan-Caribbean cuisine and culture and was owned by Erika Tusen and Joseph Lallae.
