Nicole Kidman had a mother-daughter moment on the Met Gala steps
Nicole Kidman is making a triumphant return as co-chair of the Met Gala this year. Having served in the position twice before, Kidman proved tonight that her flare for a statement-making moment on the Met steps is still very much intact.
The star wore a show-stopping red sequined gown by Chanel with Chanel jewelry and an Omega timepiece. The full-length gown, with a crew neckline and long sleeves featured scarlet feathers at the cuffs and following the line of the hips.

She was joined on the steps by her daughter, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, who made her Met Gala debut in a confection of pink and blue starburst embellishments by Dior, with a sheer column skirt and oversized floral earrings.

This year, Kidman shares the co-chair title with Beyoncé and Venus Williams, but she’s no stranger to the position. The Oscar-winner first served as a co-chair of the gala back in 2003 when she wore a sparkling Gucci by Tom Ford one-shoulder gown with a sheer sleeve and bodice for the theme "Goddess: The Classical Mode." She reprised her role two years later in 2005 for the "The House of Chanel" exhibit wearing a sleek navy column gown with asymmetrical buttons and embellishment by (of course) Chanel.

Kidman returned as Met Gala co-chair in 2005.
Last year, for the “Tailored for You” dress code celebrating the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” exhibition, Kidman chose an aptly-fitted strapless black gown by Balenciaga. The look features a bodice fitted through the hips with a voluminous skirt and structured by a duo of bow-bedecked belts that gave the piece a classic, retro feel. She told Vogue at the time, “I just wanted something very tailor-made to me. ... And then this kind of was inspired in support of all those gorgeous, gorgeous dandies and the women that honored them.”
